Thank you for this article. After I retired, I joined the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County (WI). I am an active member. I have learned MUCH through the League. I am a volunteer on our League's Vote411 Team (see Vote411.org) and do other volunteer work to support our League. Our League is doing a lot of good work in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
I do still wonder if legislation could be passed to decrease the possibility of a takeover. America has an abysmally low percentage of participants. Nevertheless, I have been here longer than I have time left. I’m willing to shoulder a target in an effort to preserve democracy for my grandchildren.

I'm strongly in favor of mandatory voting. There are 21 countries doing it already.
I would agree with the addition of mandatory civics classes... how government works and your role as citizen.
