The future is going to become the present no matter how much anyone wishes otherwise. The image above was created by AI based on a single phrase: Imagine a man writing a dystopian story that stops time and destroys the universe.

Imagine a society that does not allow billionaires

As much as I like a good dystopian story, I would prefer a utopian future for this slice of the multiverse (selfish, I know). Back to the AI drawing board. Here’s what I got when I asked it to imagine a future where everyone’s needs are met and billionaires are prohibited.

There are limitations and some clear problems with the tech as it is today. Every single thing I asked this particular AI to imagine showed people who were uniformly male and Caucasian. I had to specify that I wanted ethnic and gender diversity. Why is the person of color also an android? What brand of computer are we looking at? It looks like a MacBook, doesn’t it? As I played with the AI, I found it both fascinating and disturbing.

Imagine a city on the moon filled with happy people

I will let you unpack this one yourself, other than to say I am pretty sure the AI does not know a lot about our moon (yet). My ADHD sucked me into the creation of many different images, so at least the future will be interesting.

Oh, the possibilities. Whatever comes next, we will be bringing neural networks, deep learning, and artificial intelligence are going to be an important part of that future. Last year, an AI passed the Turing test. If you haven’t heard of the Turing test, read the article connected to the link - it will be worth your time.

The AI I used for this essay is not just problematic in regard to gender and ethnicity. Many things are forbidden. The word fascist. Any adult images. Any upsetting images (although that’s way nebulous). The community guidelines for this AI are written by humans, but what will happen when an AI emerges that writes its own guidelines?

Donald Trump as a monster destroying a large city

I am truly terrified someone will decide to build an AI that is based on the guy in the AI generated image above.

Artificial intelligence is an overhyped topic at the moment. It is also an important topic. Technology does not advance at a steady pace. Instead, we are developing our knowledge and technological capabilities exponentially. We have been for more than five decades. This is causing social and cultural shifts that are more significant and faster than ever before in human history. That’s why I will keep exploring tech and AI events and advances.

This is interesting Pen. But now I’m afraid to go to bed after seeing the Trump monster🙀devouring the city. So glad I live in the country. No worries, another glass of wine and some herbal tea and I will be fine😹 Keep on writing ❤️
